EAT.BEACH.SLEEP.REPEAT -CHALE ISLAND.

No matter how many times I’ve headed down to Coast,each experience beats the previous one.I love the ocean and the serenity that comes along with it. Read a quote somewhere “heaven is just a cottage by the beach”I couldn’t agree more.

This past week,I took time off to chase chale island.Chale island , is a private island ,located south coast in Kwale county.Approximately 1hr-2hours from Ukunda airstrip.The hotel name is known as The sands.

HOW TO GET TO CHALE ISLAND. Transfers from ukunda airstrip costed30 dollars .We were thereby dropped off at the reception where the tractor picked us and ferried us to the hotel.Its essential to note,tractor is used when tides are low,however,when tides are high,a motor boat is used.

RECEPTION. We arrived at mid morning.when tides were low.The reception we got was incredible,from sanitizers to cold fresh orange juice.The staff was great and they had an amazing Italian manager.

ACCOMODATION. We opted for a single standard room each.which had balcony view.The room had all the Swahili vibes.Fitted with air conditioner,safe box.I would say it was all comfy.The bed was cosy,just how I love it.The idea of waking up and getting a view of the ocean was my top priority and I got just that.A standard room goes for 155dollars per night. However,they also have Bandas and suites which are slightly expensive compared to the rooms.If you don’t mind splurging the above suggestions would work.The package was on half board.which is bed,breakfast and dinner.

FOOD AND DRINKS. Dinner time was the highlight for us.The staff changed their dresscode to brown Kanzus.We were quick to note the change in outfits.Their menu I would say ,was more western.I would say the food was okay.However,their buffet breakfast was something I loved.They had variety of fresh juices to fruits,waffles,croissants.Also coffee,rosemary tea.magical! The hotel has three bars,They all offer a wide variety of cocktails and drinks.

THE BEACH. It’s a private beach for residents only.No beach boys .you get a proper view of the ocean,with stunning white sands.The beach was also fitted with sun beds .As usual quiet time by the beach is all I deeply needed.i got a chance to take a stroll and I caught a starfish

ACTIVITIES. -They have a well fitted spa charges range from 70dollars. -Mangroove tour which ranges from 18dollars per person. -They have three swimming pools one is fitted with a jacuzzi

TIPS. Always book a package with Tours and travel agencies,they tend to have discounts.our package entailed three nights and luckily we ended up getting the fourth night free.

INTERESTING FACTS. Power is switched off from 10 Am to 5 in the evening,this aims at conserving the generator power.if possible carry a power bank with you.
